Book Review: Harry Potter and the Cursed Child

I've finished reading Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, so I wanted to share my spoiler free, first impressions!

This is another one of those book reviews I actually can't believe I'm writing. Except this one is more special because I never would of imagined, after 9 years, I'd have a brand new Harry Potter book in my hands!!

I went into this book completely blind,  I've not seen the play, I've not read any book reviews, I literally had no idea what the plot was even about. All I knew that it is set 19 years after the Deathly Hallows, and we are now following Harry and his new family with Ginny. When I first started reading it, I instantly felt full of nostalgia. Even though it's a screenplay not an actual book, I still felt the way I did when I first read the Harry Potter books, I was just instantly taken back there and I loved it! As I got more into it and I realised where the plot was going and what the main story was, I was so shocked, the book explores a plot that I didn't realise could happen in Harry Potter so it is so exciting to read about everything you know and love from the original books, turned into something you never even imagined could happen! It is so interesting the different things the book explores, a lot of it it does feel like it's in there just as a fan pleaser (not that I'm complaining!), but maybe it is like that deliberately because it is a play after all. When you read the book, you can try and visualise how it would look in real life, and in this book, there were so many scenes that I was trying to imagine just how they would recreate that in a play so this book has definitely made me want to see the play even more!

I'm sad that I've finished this book, I love the feeling of having a new Harry Potter book! I know JK Rowling said this it now, but I really hope it's not! I feel like there's still so many different storylines I want to follow!

Have you read the Cursed Child yet? Let me know your thoughts!
