Film Review: The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1

So last night I FINALLY watched Mockingjay Part 1 so I had to talk about it today!

Like a lot of films recently (seemingly since the Deathly Hallows did it), this final Hunger Games film was split into 2 parts, and I've been wanting to see the first part, Mockingjay Part 1, for ages so I was excited to finally get around to it!

Mockingjay Part 1 picks up where Catching Fire left off, after Katniss shot her arrow into the force field around The Hunger Games, which causes a war to break out, although she didn't mean for that to happen. So now, Katniss is living in District 13, after  President Snow has destroyed the others. With President Coin in District 13, the only option for Katniss is to rise up and become the Mockingjay, a symbol of rebellion, and help to send a message to show they will not stand for anymore war, and also to find a way to save Peeta, who has been hijacked is being tortured, and used as a weapon against Katniss.

I loved this film! I thought it was an awesome way to introduce the ending! It has such a different feel to it then the past 2 films. It's not in the games anymore and it's very much the start of something big happening. It's a lot more serious than the past 2 because this war has broken out and it's very real and it makes the whole film feel really heavy! I haven't read the books so I can't compare them but this film does remind me of the Deathly Hallows Part 1, not in terms of the film, but more in a sense that it's just a lot of building up and building up but not a lot really happens. It could probably be made into just 1 film but as a stand alone film, it does work and it keeps you hooked all the way through! I'm excited to see Mockingjay Part 2 and since I haven't read the books, I don't know what's going to happen but I have lots of ideas! Watching The Hunger Games films has made me want to read the books though because I'm sure there's so much more I don't know about the series that's just as awesome as the films. Perhaps I'll wait until I've watched all the films and then I'll go back and read them!

Have you seen Mockingjay Part 1?? How does it compare to the book? Let me know your thoughts on The Hunger Games!
